A Coffee a Day Keeps the Doctor Away

Since moving to D.C. about a month and a half ago, I have stayed committed to trying a new coffee shop every time I go get coffee. D.C. has so many local places to offer, and I wanted to find my favorites instead of going to the familiar Starbucks. After trying an embarrassing amount of coffee shops, I have chosen my three favorites so far!

1) Dolcezza (pictured above)

Okay, so I may have lied about trying a new place each time. Dolcezza is the only coffee shop I have repeated, and rightly so. Dolcezza has multiple locations in D.C., and each one is beautifully designed and consistently delicious. In addition to their coffee, they are also known for their gelato, which is AMAZING. I have a huge sweet tooth, so I can never resist getting some gelato with my coffee. So far, my favorite flavor is Georgia Butter Pecan. If you’re ever in D.C. make sure to stop by one of their stores!

2) Big Bear Cafe

Big Bear Cafe is in the Bloomingdale neighborhood of D.C., and at first glance I knew I was going to be obsessed with this place. Vines cover the walls, and they have gorgeous outdoor seating surrounded by lights, plants, and wood decor. It’s honestly one of the most beautiful coffee shops I’ve ever seen in terms of design.

Their coffee didn’t disappoint, either. I went with a classic iced latte, and it was great! I got a great photo of it with the portrait mode on my iPhone 7 plus (who else is obsessed with portrait mode???).

3) The Wydown

Last but certainly not least is The Wydown Coffee Bar. They have two locations, but I have only been to the store on H St. NE. The store itself is very aesthetically pleasing, which is always a huge plus for me, and the staff was incredibly friendly. I decided to get an iced soy chai tea latte (one of my go-to’s) and it was amazing, as expected. As you can see in the photo below, my sweet tooth took over once again and I got a brown sugar chocolate chip cookie, which I devoured in about .5 seconds. Overall, a great coffee shop, and I will definitely be a frequent customer.

If you know of any other D.C. coffee shops I should try, please leave them in the comments below! I always love recommendations for new places.
